I remind you: CAPTAIN SQUARE'S HOMEPAGE
It's about damn time we started getting in to the actual story, right?
This first page was done as an experiment, so you may notice (later on) that the art style is a little inconsistent. The other pages were first sketched and laid out on a single sheet of paper. This one was done as a collection of sketches in my notepad which showed off the various faces and actions of Captain Square, kind of a test-sheet.
I've got to remind you that this was all done experimentally. I am not an artist, so my color choice is often horrendous. The picture itself is limited to a 256 color palette (after I convert it to PNG), so you will see something that looks a little more "jaggy" than the source art. But the lines are solid, I'm down with the ink. It's just the paint needs a little work.
If you want to learn about the popular science of character introduction, I suggest reading How Not To Run A Comic. Even though, on the surface, it's a bunch of holier-than-thou artists trying to push their own opinions onto the artist masses, they DO occasionally offer a grain of wisdom (and commentary).
